Although my birthday was at the end of May, I have still been getting lovely little surprises…..and some rather large ones!!!…. My friend Lynette, made me this block keeper….Isn’t it beautiful??? If you click on it, you may be able to enlarge it a bit to see, but if you can’t, the stitchery in the middle says…”The pathway to a friend’s house is never very long”…….I will treasure this, always!!!! xoxoxo
There are some super super yummy recipes in Grandma’s special recipe book too…..oooh, I can see my exercise bike getting a workout!!!! I love the smell of lavender too that wafted out of the parcel…can you see the little sachet Fee made…..very Francois!!!!! …oui oui! I love ALL my goodies, they’re just beautiful Fee…..you are one special gal….thank you ….. *mwah*
I’ve participated in a couple of Christmas in July swaps….firstly, the Fat Quarter Swap…
my partner was Raelene this month… so I sent her some very festive FQs with some cute little snowflake buttons……
Secondly, there was the mug rug swap. I showed you the mug rug I received from Leena in the last post, but I didn’t get to show you the one I sent, well, ok….I gave you a sneaky peek…..but I DID want to keep it a surprise for her as long as I could, so here ‘tis…
and her one arrived in the mail today! Isn’t it sooo sweet??? Lovin’ ‘them’ strawberries!!!! Thanks Beck and Clare……was loads of fun!
Finally, I have a little competition just around the corner, so get yourselves prepared!!!
My wonderful DS and I are heading off on a little roadie tomorrow bright and early…..a quick trip flying down to the Gold Coast to visit my big bro, pick up his old ute we bought off him and bring the ‘new’ little addition into our family! It’s going to be a long haul…..it’s about a 17 hour drive and we’re planning to be back by Friday so keep us in your thoughts and prayers and I’ll get back to you when we return with more details!
have a wonderful week….I’ll be thinking of ya!

Friday Night Sew In saw what seems like a meagre amount of work, but boy, did it take some fiddly time!!!
I finished one side of a border on my mystery quilt…..here is a close up.
I like the way it gives a 3D outline to the border…..but this one is going to take me a bit of time……why I never choose ‘easy’ over a challenge, I’ll never know!
It’s been fairly miserable weather around here the past week or so and today was no exception…..although there wasn’t any rain…(well….does a slight drizzle for about 5 minutes count???)….it was overcast, dull and cool, compared to our normal tropical weather…even in winter! We awoke to the sound of birds outside the window….and these gorgeous kingfishers were sitting on our clothesline…
It was difficult to catch the three of them together, and finding three surprised me as we normally have one or two, but even that’s not frequent. Hubby told me it’s because the are fond of bees….with this dreaded, dull weather, the bees have been staying close to their hives so are a ready food source for the birds. As I watched, they flew off towards the hives, dived and grabbed a bee, bringing it back to the clothesline to bang it against the poles before gobbling it up.
As the bees aren’t out collecting pollen, they’re a ready target as they’re also not feeding, so Mumma Mrs B to the rescue…..off I trotted armed with my squirty bottle of honey from the last collection to feed the bay-bees!!!!! And boy were they hungry….
Look at them all lined up drinking up the honey!!! Nature is amazing isn’t it?? Hopefully that will give them the strength till the sun comes out again….hopefully tomorrow!!!!!
A lovely surprise awaited me at the post office on Friday too…..it was my swap partner Leena’s (no blog) Christmas in July mug rug swap.
Isn’t it gorgeous??? And Leena sent me a bonus Christmas FQ as well…..just love it….thanks so much Leena, and thanks to Cathy for organising it too! *mwah*
