reality

I’m just starting to get my head back in its space after my trip to the big smoke and get back to reality….or should I say, normality!!!! So, to get back into my routine that I’ve been out of for faaaaar too long, I thought I’d do some blog-hopping (something I’ve been really bad at lately….where does that time monster hide???). I visited my friend Allie and felt a faint tinge of deja-vu… DSC05800 2photo courtesy of Allie…allie-oopssweethappylife.blogspot.com ….Allie has stitched up my ‘good things’ design for her brother……..I got such a buzz seeing it made up by someone else….and Allie did such a great job, don’t you think???   If you want to stitch it up too, you can find the design link on my sidebar. It’s worth a visit…going over to Allies blog….she’s doing some amazing things….and it’s gorgeous on her side of the world at the moment!!!!!….and her Mum will give you a bit of a giggle too!!!! I did make something….shock, horror……before I left for my little family visit!   My sister-in-law and I share adjoining birthdates…..not birth years, unfortunately…..she is a little bit younger than me (by about 10 years!!!), so I thought I’d whizz her up a little bag to trip around those trendy Gold Coast shops! 002 (Medium)005 (Medium)006 (Medium)007 (Medium) It’s a lovely little design by Rosalie Quinlan called Petit Project Bag, that I bought on my trip to Charters Towers for their quilt show!  She loved it, and it got many comments from shop owners too……thanks Rosalie for a great design….loved by all! birthday-cake-border-hthbirthday-cake-border-hthbirthday-cake-border-hth When I got home, I had lots of mail waiting for me….one of the lovely ones that didn’t have a window in the front of it contained this gorgeous pile of goodies….. 009 (Medium) This was from my lovely swap partner Carol in our monthly Fat Quarter Swap…the theme this month was PINK!!!……I love everything Carol sent me. Thank you soooo much Carol……and no, the Lindt chockies didn’t last very long!!!!!! ….and speaking of the Fat Quarter Swap, Cathy has a link to a Christmas in July Mug Rug Swap that looks like fun……wanna join me???    The link is here.  It’s an international swap so we can all join in! I’ve just finished my first ‘official’ pattern writing, for a library bag that’s included in Jen’s Elefantz Home magazine for June….the kid’s edition….  here are some of the lovely designs you’ll find inside… …mine is the spotty book bag down the bottom…..here’s a close up… photos courtesy of Jenny Reynolds…www.elefantz.com I just love Wilbur Worm’s googly eyes!!!!……If you’d like to see more, details are here on Jenny’s blog and you can even download a free copy of issue 1 to see if you like it!  (I’m sure you will….what’s not to like????) Anyway….off to do the three ‘h’s’…..housework, housework, housework…..then hopefully some sewing!  Hopefully your weekend is full of self-indulgent stitching too! Sugary hugs xox   :O) Signature

more lovely surprises???

Where has this week gone??? Monday I was taking my boy up to the airport to catch a plane to the ‘big smoke’, and it’s Friday already!!!!  So much has been happening! After I waved my DS goodbye for a couple of weeks, my car (well, my son’s car!!!) found itself  toodling off to a gorgeous friend’s house!! And she surprised me with these gorgeous gifties for my birthday…. 009 (Medium) 005 (Medium) My very own gorgeous mini runner made with Pam Kitty….simply stunning….I wish you could see it up close and ‘in the real’….Jen’s stitching is just P-E-R-F-E-C-T!!!! 008 (Medium) …and I’ve found the perfect place for it too… 010 (Medium) right atop my piano as you walk in the front door…..and then, I thought it was a bit bare so……. 011 (Medium) …there….that’s better!!!!  What do you think??  006 (Medium)007 (Medium) She also gave me a wonderful kit for this gorgeous bag….don’t know if you can see it very clearly, perhaps if you click on the picture,  but I’m hoping to work on it on the weekend, in time to take it away on my trip ‘down south’! Jen’s darling girl Bloss even bought me a rose….pity she wasn’t there to give a great big sugary hug to!!!! 001 (Medium)002 (Medium) She is such a sweety!!! Love ya,  Bloss! Then, Tuesday, I FINALLY got to rekindle my relationship with…. IMG_1051[1] ….yep, my baby came home!!!!  Yippeee……it’s ONLY been 4 1/2 months waiting for it to be returned to it’s original condition after someone ran into the back of me!!!!  I am so happy to have her back home….poor thing…… 18.5K worth of damage….and you wouldn’t know it now……it’s such a joy not having to beg or borrow a lift! Then Wednesday was our wedding anniversary……8 years of togetherness in matrimony…..my how time flies!!!!! 008 (Large) Gee, I wonder where that slim young lady went?????  haha And my hubby researched and found that 8 years is represented by linen, among other things, so he went out and bought me….you guessed it…….a quilt! 012 (Medium) Just tops the bed nicely…..AND it’s even monagrammed with hearts!!!!  And yup, he IS a keeper!!!! 013 (Medium) Wednesday saw me finally catching up with the washing, and photographing wildlife in the backyard…. 001 (Medium) don’t know if you can see him but here he is, posing for the camera… 002 (Medium)003 (Medium) This one’s ok….he’s only a harmless little tree snake sunning himself, but when I mowed the lawn that afternoon, I was greeted by a much bigger brown snake….much more dangerous and seeing as it’s getting colder, he was a little sluggish, thank goodness.  I think I woke him from a slumber, but luckily, he wasn’t to cranky with me and slithered away slowly, stopping once to flick his tongue about, probably to see if I was still there, and then off into the banana trees he went.  Phew! During the nights I’ve managed to get a little stitching done…  I’ve drawn up my stitchery I received from the lovely Marilyn and it’s been keeping me occupied in front of the tv at night.... 017 (Medium) I’ve even got the next part drawn up! 018 (Medium) Well, I can hear a knock at the door…..off to stitch up these curtains we started last week……hopefully a finish!? sugary hugs xox  :O) Signature
