Fun times

Making time today for some very needed F. M. Q-ing!  This one has been waiting a good couple of years, very patiently in the 'to-do' pile!
I'm making time because this one has a very special (unbeknownst to them) recipient that has been waiting far too long!
I'm not the greatest FMQ-er in the world but I'm enjoying the process and there's heaps of love going in to this one!!!
What are you in the middle of today?

Xox sugary hugs :o)

FNSI draw and what I got up to……

Was Friday night REALLY 3 nights ago????  Gee that goes fast……but I can see we’ve all got lots done…isn’t sewing with friends fantastic motivation??  I absolutely love it! My plans went on hold a bit as my son started uni today and informed me on Friday night he ‘needed’ a pencil-case right there and then…..so…..what does a stitcher do? Yep, you got it, I made him one……. 018 (Medium) 019 (Medium) nothing flash, very simple and quite manly, and he loves it….and because I’ve used pellon between the lining and the cover, his mates even think he’s lucky because when lectures are ‘boring’,  he can use it as a pillow!!!!!!     BOYS!!!!! www.clipartguide.com I also got to try out Susan’s method of making “Perfect” flying geese, and I must admit…..it’s my new favourite way of making them!!!!  A brief overview…… 024 (Medium)026 (Medium)028 (Medium)029 (Medium) I trimmed them down after this step and added them to the other elements of the block to get this…….. 015.1 (Medium) See what I mean about perfect flying geese EVERY time!!!!!  If you want to get the full instructions for perfecting your flying geese Susan’s way, go to her blog HERE.   This is the 5th block in my Delightful Stars QAL with Michele over at Quilting Gallery.  I also took the next step and added the sashing between 4 of the 5 blocks and  this is the result…… 017.1 (Medium) I’m loving this QAL and it’s helping perfect my points beyond belief…Michele’s instructions are really great…..head on over if you want to join along. I also managed a bit more stitching on this Smee Designs beauty…. 033 (Medium) It’s such a fun one……granny’s really rockin’ those fluffy slippers!!!!!! I’ve got a couple of other things I MUST get done but that’s just going to have to wait……..I know you’re all eagerly anticipating the draw for Friday night’s TWO winners!!  Well, Mr RNG offered his help again and here is what he said….. 2014.02.1 winner2014.02.2 winner Our winners for this month are Christine over @ MacDonald’s Patch and Mary K @ 13 Insane Penguins and Squirrels (don’t you just love that name???)  Both ladies were very busy on Friday night and if you’re an owl lover, Mary has a  great link to the cutest little owls….pop on over and take a look. Congratulations ladies……just drop me an email with your addresses and I’ll send your prizes (which I just know you’re going to love) out to you. FNSI reminder

I’ve been busy in the kitchen making a yummy slice for tonight’s get together…..it’s my favourite of all time….Vanilla Custard Slice! I thought I’d  make something extra special seeing as it’s one of my bestest stitching buddy’s birthday today……you might like to drop in and wish her a happy birthday on her blog……HERE  A lovely read on her birthday post too! So here it is…… 024 (Medium) and you can get the recipe HERE….I didn’t have any passionfruit for the icing, but I made do with the icing sugar, 5 drops of yellow colouring, some vanilla extract and 1-2 tablespoons of milk.  It is so hot and humid here that the icing didn’t hold it’s own but its in the fridge now and should be ok!  But, despite that, it tastes just as I remember it as a child (and I have the picture to prove it….I did the actual taste test for morning tea…surprised???? LOL ) 027 (Medium) …..one excellent recipe I’ll be using again and again (if my waistline can stand it!!!) LOL whisk Now, are you all signed up for tonight’s FNSI???  Make sure you do as there’ll be plenty of vanilla slice to go around!!!  And I got a terrific tip from Susan about making perfect Flying Geese blocks EVERY time, which I’m going to have a go at this evening as I make my next block for the Delightful Stars QAL  If you go visit her at her blog, you can see how she does it!….perfect every time…..I love that idea!!!! delightful-stars-250 Make sure you sign up in my last post HERE….there are a couple of prizes up for grabs this month!  Hope to see you tonight! *wink* xox Sugary hugs :o) my signature

Wet weather Monday fun-day and FNSI sign ups

Well the wet season is finally here, a little late but you know what they say......??
and what better way to spend a wet weather Monday than stitching with your besties???
And to make it even better, it was Miss Jen's un-birthday celebrations today.... so we headed off to her house to celebrate....

you see, as Jenny's birthday is REALLY on Friday, that's Friday...the 21st..... (you didn't hear me say that, did you??? *wink wink*....but it might be nice to share some bloggy birthday love and visit her then!!! *hint hint*) we thought we'd share the birthday love today, on our stitching day so we could spoil her rotten as she justly deserves!!!......so you see, it's her un-birthday celebrations!!!!
And she was almost in tears with her gifts.....
I think we know her pretty well!!!!!

We stitched while listening to the rain beating heavily outside, very rare as it's seasonal in our neck of the woods, so very exciting.....
and then Jen shared some of the most delicious gluten free foods....a sweet sticky slice that was sooooo yummy (and went down so quickly I never got a photo...oops!), and a lip smacking risotto which looked, and tasted like it came straight from the Masterchef kitchens....
I was working on a new stitchery I received from Natashia at Smee Designs called "The Street"
You'll remember I've been working on "A long time ago in Bethlehem" and yes, it's ALMOST finished....just quilting to be done, so hopefully soon I'll have that finish to show you.

A gorgeous quilt that depicts the scenes in a busy street and all the goings-on in the shops within it. I've started on the block that shows the mannequins in the dress shop window and believe it or not, Jenny's hairdresser is next door!!!!  You can see it more closely in the link above, but it's a beautiful design, full of Natashia's whimsy and fun....I love it!  It's always fun stitching her designs!!!

So Friday, we mustn't forget to drop by Jenny's blog and wish her the happiest and blessed of birthdays, but we also must remember that it's FNSI for the month too!!!!  So make sure you plan to have the evening free to join us chatty girls to stitch, sew and nibble on chocolate to our hearts content and share with us all on the weekend and don't forget to sign up below so we can all come along and cheer you on!  This month's prize is a double one......two panels of stitchy goodness for two lucky winners (seeing it's the second month of the year....and the winter Olympics are on.....weeeell, do I really need an excuse????)
Isn't it cute......I can see lots of possibilities with this one, can't you???
