Up to date

I managed to finish my Quilty stitches sampler block 14 last night and now I’m up to date. DSCN0207 (1024x724) only two more to go and I can frame it and hang it proudly in my sewing room! DSCN0209 (1024x766) It feels sooooo good when you catch up! Now, if only I could do that with all my other UFOs! Sugary hugs xox   :o) my signature

Building on skills

Found a clever addition to my skills basket today and thought I might share it…… DSCF7529 (1024x768) I have been known to sew quite a few half square triangles and these are not always my favourite block, although apparently, they are the second most popular block in quilting (heard that somewhere)……and as I was traipsing my way through Blogland this morning, I came across a comment on a website that lead me HERE to double saw tooth quilt block Quilting and Whatnot….. where you can download and print FREE papers to create accurate half square triangles without the problems caused by those pesky bias edges…. from 1/2 inch ones right up to 2 1/2 inch ones.  There’s lots of tips and hints too. Available free of charge to you 24/7!  Great, huh? I love how quilters are always so caring and sharing, don’t you?  I”m off to the cave…. Sugary hugs xox  :o) my signature

A Finish in the wings…

Another block finished and one more block to catch up…. IMG_4606 (1024x768) then only two more blocks to finish. IMG_4607 (1024x768) I’m loving this Quilty Stitches Sampler-a-long generously hosted by Cory…..it’s still free on her blog if you want to go and download and start your own.  I’ve followed along with her colours but you could easily choose ones to suit your own decor.   However, being the ‘rebel’ (?) that I am,  I’m not going to fill in the background to each block because I like it the way it is….I might do a darker, maybe the charcoal (I used on the barn roof), border around the outside before I frame though. (talk about pushing the boundaries!)  And then I’ll have another finish for OPAM…at last! It always feels so good when there’s a finish in the wings, doesn’t it? Sugary hugs xox :o) my signature

IMG_4600 (1024x768) we enjoyed some Gorgonzola gnocchi and one with the regular sauce…..both delish…..I’m not generally a blue vein type of girl, but it is absolutely YUMMO Gave me energy to work on this…IMG_4601 (768x1024) and play with some free motion quilting….. IMG_4604 (1024x768) and with some beautiful fabrics….Collections for a Cause IMG_4605 (1024x768) and even try some scallops. I couldn’t stop! New Toys

This week has flown by and Thursday saw me travelling to Townsville to go and see the specialist who operated on my FIL earlier this year and then go for scans to get the all-clear for upcoming surgery to remove his cancerous kidney.  Then we had to visit the haematologist as hubby has some ‘abnormal’ blood results which show infection ‘somewhere’ in his system…..seems all we do lately is visit doctors. So to wile away the time in between, I popped over to Spotlight with my 15% off voucher and bought me a treat….. IMG_4580 (1024x768) Seeing as I’ve been playing with hexies a bit lately, I thought this might make it much easier (and more accurate) to prepare my papers……and I couldn’t choose so I got all three……the X-Large punches out 1 inch hexies, the Large does 3/4 inch and the Medium, 1/2 inch…..hate to think how small the small one punches out???  Bit too fiddly for me.  I couldn’t wait to get home and have a ‘play’….. IMG_4581 (1024x768) I like to use the subscription cards that come in my mags…..they’re just the right weight for paper piecing….I can feel the edge when I’m joining the hexies. IMG_4582 (1024x768)  So much fun and sooooo much easier…..This is definitely one of those purchases that doesn’t make you feel guilty……Loving my new toys! Which leads me to think….what new hexi design can I come up with now? Sugary hugs xox  :o) my signature
