Birdcage Challenge
Birdcage Challenge
I mentioned how much I L-O-V-E-D this wonderful design….by the talented Sarah Saliba
featured here…
to my good friend Jenny and she suggested we do a challenge together. What do you think I would say????
“OH YES PLEASE!!!!” was my immediate response! I had so much fun doing this challenge with Teresa not long ago, I was thinking how much fun it would be for everyone to be able to do something like that and have as much fun as we did,
There was no way I would miss out on this much fun again…..and to co-host it with one of my favourite designers!!!!! Woohoo!!!! *happy happy happy dance*
We are inviting you, wherever you may be in the world, to join us online for this….
….in the comfort of your own home…..you don’t even have to get out of your pj’s if you don’t want to!
If you can get a hold of a copy of the August issue of Homespun magazine, you can follow along with us, (I’ve already got most of my materials for it and the perfect place in my sewing room to hang it (even have the hook in the ceiling awaiting it’s arrival!!!) …but we don’t want to limit only those of us who can get a copy, soooooo……
if you’d like to try other patterns, designs or styles and modes (whether it be paper craft, knitting, crochet, or anything else that tickles your fancy) Jenny already has tracked some down here, and I’ll be adding some soon too!
You can make your own birdcage, like Sarah’s , or use an existing birdcage, and I agree with Jenny, something white and shabby would be ‘delish’, but whatever is your style is going to look absolutely fantastic! :O)
So, if you’d love to join us for a fabulous weekend creating THE most beautiful bird-filled birdcages, sign up on either Jenny’s or my blog by leaving a comment telling us so and we’ll add your name to our lists on our sidebars.
Have a wonderful week,
Sugary hugs,

Pie Weather
Pie Weather
Apart from washing, cleaning, baking and the general, weekend running around, I’ve spent a very enjoyable day travelling through the many quilt shops of America!
Apparently the Americans have a national Peach Pie Day and in honour of this special event, many shops have put on great specials and hidden pie recipes and co-ordinating blocks in amongst their online shops. I’ve been hopping about visiting, thanks to the FabShop.

It’s only on till the 25 August (US time) so pop by and have a look…….a list of participating shops and further information is here.
Can’t you just picture a pie quilt with blocks like this…
and this?….
…..and in this part of the world….it really is pie weather!!!! mmmmmmm I’m starting to get hungry!!!!

Siamese?????
Siamese?????
In Australia, we are voting in a federal election tomorrow for our new Prime Minister….
they say it’s going to be ‘neck and neck’…..
and I guess even the garden thinks it’s going to be close……look what I found in the garden this afternoon…….
…a siamese rose!!!….have you ever seen such a thing???? I must say, I’ve NEVER been exposed to one before, not that I’m an expert or anything, but has anyone ever seen anything like it before?….or is it a bit of a unique phenomenon?????
Here’s another view to show you I’m not using trick photography…..
See the single stem???…..very strange….but maybe a sign that it is going to be a ‘very close’ call tomorrow!!! (LOL….sorry about that…it’s a little bit of a sad joke, isn’t it????)
I’m working at a polling booth for the election tomorrow, so it will be an early start and a very late night of counting!!!! I had to pass up a trip to a neighbouring city’s ‘Fibre and Fabrics Show and Tell’, which was a little disappointing, but knowing how I spent up at the last Show…..it’s probably just as well!!!! hehehe
While our thoughts are on the future, just thought I’d let you know about Chooky’s 2010 Secret Santa Christmas Swap……..
If you haven’t already joined, you can read all about it here. The swap is still open, so rush on over and join!

Woohoo…….too!
Woohoo…….too!
Well, I finished my challenge with Teresa…..and boy, was it fun! I recommend this way of getting projects done to EVERYONE!!!!
Thanks Teresa, you’re a darling…and it’s been so lovely getting to know you so much more in our emails to one another over the last couple of weeks!
And….here it is….my version of “The Stitcher’s Priority” By Natalie Bird of “The Birdhouse”
very different colours to Teresa’s, which you can see here, but I luuuurv both….it’s a fun pattern to do, especially with a friend!
I didn’t get felt for my scallops so I had to make a slight modification!!!!! It took a little bit longer, but I’m happy with the results!
I decided to echo the scallops for quilting as well as stitching in the ditch. Now the challenge will be finding a place to put it!!!! LOL
And now I have my first finish for August, done and dusted!!!! Woohoo……….too!
Hope you have a wonderfully sweet week,
Big sugary hugs

One, two, threefourfive……
One, two, threefourfive……
I caught a fish alive!!!! (and some!!)
I had a full day of quilting and stitching planned today, but the weather was sooooo beautiful, my DH decided we would go fishing!!!!
Keep in mind, this is the middle of WINTER!!!!….
Isn’t it absolutely G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S?????
And we were entertained too…..look at this little huge beauty….
This beautiful creature was just enjoying the day, swimming peacefully up and down the banks, sunning himself and floppin’ about!!!
I think he was just keeping an eye on us to make sure we didn’t take too many of his fish!!!!
As we moved up the bank, he followed us, he was a very entertaining chap! We felt we were being watched wherever we went in the river…..
From majestic hawks to these cheeky fellows, who kept stealing our bait…..
And yes, we did get to take home quite a few fish for dinner!!!
I cant let a post go though without showing you where I am up to in my challenge with Teresa. I did manage to get a little bit done yesterday, but not as much as I’d liked…..
Just a sneaky peak Teresa, you’ll just have to wait a little longer!!! *cheeky wink* I wonder where she’s up to??? Perhaps you could go and have a look here.
I hope I’ll have some more to show you in the next couple of days!!
And last night, I finished my stitching from here and here it is…..
another sneaky peak first before……
…the reveal! It still needs to be finished with borders and will be put onto a canvas frame, but I’m so glad I did this one (designed by Rosalie Quinlan extraordinaire!!!!) before the end of WINTER. *cheeky giggle* (I just had to rub that one in!!!)
It does remind me so much of a winter wonderland in the blue Cosmo…what do you think??
Aaaah, back to reality and work tomorrow!
What did you get up to on your weekend?
Big, warm, North Queensland sugary hugs,
XXX Wendy :O)
