OPAM finishes for June

Seems having the flu for two weeks equals lots of finishes!  I count EIGHT finishes for June OPAM...a record this year for me!

ONE teacup.....

FOUR  Petal Pouches...
 ONE Sew Project Pouch...

ONE Simple Joys Wall Hanging...

and ONE Itty Bitty Hexi Bin - a new Sugarlane Design which you'll be able to purchase soon. (Might even be a prize for FNSI this month).

So, ONE plus FOUR plus ONE plus ONE plus ONE equals EIGHT...eight finishes for OPAM!

I'm a wee bit proud of that......made having the flu worthwhile (if that's possible!).

Hope you got lots done for OPAM too.

June FNSI wins

I've been winning this month with the things I accomplished during FNSI.

I was able to spend Friday, all day, on my projects and my plan was to get as much of my Nikki Tervo "Plates" flimsy done.
sugarlane-designs.com
I DID get the top finished and I am liking how it's coming together.

I moved onto a stitchery I've been working on - Simple Joys by Natalie Bird of The Birdhouse   Such a cute stitchery and I love the Theadora Cleave button too.

By early evening, I took a break for dinner and enjoyed a little tipple of chocolate port...a very special gift from my brother and sister in law.....am I THAT easy to read? *cheeky grin*

I finished off the night with a quick project - my Anni Downs/Hatched and Patched SEW Project Pouch   I had a kit for this and thought I'd get it started, not realising how super-fast this project really was!   Isn't the fabric adorable?

I was sewing on the binding towards the latter end of the night, finishing it completely.

It was a marathon FNSI for me and it felt like I just couldn't lose!  Everything was just going perfectly..... and I had a number of things I planned come to fruition.  This month I'm sure to see more than one OPAM finish which is a rarity for me!  How about you?  How did you go?  Have you had a chance to pop back to THIS last post to check what other FNSIers made?   There's loads of inspiration there amongst great friends.

Having such a winning FNSI inspired this month's prize .....

....this wonderful book by Patrick Lose - a gifted and talented quilter who is definitely a winner in my books.  He may be Lose by name but never by nature!    So who is our winner this month you ask?

April GDITC OPAM finishes

This past month I've been working on a couple of projects, not finishing many completely for OPAM but they're well on the way.

I did manage to finish two components of a project I'm working on though....both I purchased from the final Girls Day In the Country retreat in Nundle.  I never did get to go there (which I'd always promised myself I would) but I saw some kits were available from the weekend and decided I'd buy one, and I was not disappointed.

It was a wool applique and stitchery project on a piece of vintage quilt, nestled atop a chinese food steamer...a unique sewing box designed by Bonnie Sullivan and it's truly just gorgeous.  I've NEARLY finished it but not quite...just a tiny bit of embellishment to go.

BUT, I did have two finishes for OPAM from this project.....the two accompanying sewing kit necessities....a beautiful pumpkin pincushion, which is attached to the underside of the domed lid of the steamer.....

I've embellished mine with a gorgeous chiffony flower that my bestie Di gifted me.....and and cute printed needlebook with some wool felt, button and trim embellishments (also gifted) ....
I'm so happy with how these are turning out.  So that's two for OPAM for April....on track for at least one project a month!  Thanks Kris and Peg.....you're wonderful taskmasters!

A St Patrick's Day FNSI winner

Well it didn't seem to be such a bad turnout on Friday night after all.....thank you so much for all my well wishes.....my virus seems to be a lot better after a few long sleeps and cold and flu drugs (and the good ol' eucalyptus oil).

We had 28 friends virtually stitching together, in complete home comforts, all over the world....don't you just love blogging?  Whatever did we do before the internet?

Here is what I managed to get done...

I started with a hexi for our craft groups hexi swap.  I'm loving the colour and don't really want to give it away.  Might have to make another!

I finished the last little touches of one of my gifts from our Let's Get Stitched weekend, kindly donated by the lovely Nikki Tervo of Brandy Gully Patterns....isn't he cute done up in Cottage Garden 'Mistletoe' threads?  I think I'll either frame him, using a technique shown on my friend Jen's blog or into a lovely little bag that we also received a pattern for on the weekend. (just luuuuuv stitching retreats!)
I then had a little mini project in mind, to make a very simple hexie needlebook, which I'm thinking of doing a tutorial for.....what do you think?  It's a sweet little design that doesn't take long to make, I had it finished in a night (another for my OPAM list) so would be a great last minute gift idea for a stitching friend.

Then as the night drew to a close, I managed a few stitches on another Nikki Tervo Design, which is always on standby.  I'm loving the colours and the tranquility these blocks give me.
Did I tell you my FNSI started early on Friday?  (if you were wondering how I got so much done....I guess you could say I cheated! ;o) )
So, that's my FNSI and what happened at Sugarlane.  Have you had a chance to see my other 27 friend's projects they were working on on Friday night?  Always an inspiration, so I recommend popping by for a look.
And I haven't forgotten....Friday was St Patrick's Day, a day of celebrations of the foremost patron saint of Ireland, and I promised our prize would be green in recognition.
Maybe not the actual patron saint, but who doesn't love little birdies, along with some gorgeous green fat quarters?
Without further ado....Mr RNG has been patiently waiting for his special moment and he's spun his lucky random number generator and come up with number.......

Yaaaaay....congratulations

Melanie's one of my friends I spent time with in Adelaide at Let's Get Stitched. (I promise, Mr RNG is totally unbiased)  and she's been too busy working and not spending enough time on 'fun' stitching. A great welcome back Melanie!

Talking about work, I must head off.  The boss will be standing at the door tapping her watch!

May the luck of the Irish be with you all year around.
