FNSI fun and a November winner

Friday night came and went so quickly....as I've said, I have been soooo tired with work taking all of my time, so Friday night didn't see much happening....but I did get a little done for FNSI.....

I managed a little stitching for some Christmas gifts and finished some up over the weekend.

I'd bought the latest issue of Leanne Beasley's 'Vignette' from Janeene at Fabric Patch so I started the night by thumbing through it whilst I nibbled on some goodies and drank a lovely drop of.......decaf!

Janeene  tucked in this cute little Gail Pan design so I thought I'd stitch it up in a few of my favourite Cottage Garden Threads

I'll make these up into four cute little pincushions to pop in with some Christmas presents.  They're such fun to stitch.

Squishy mail….

  It’s been quiet here in the Sugarlane house…….welcome rainy weather has prompted me to do some catch up stuff inside the house! A little progress on the Quilty Stitches Sampler Along with the sashings and borders nearly done…. I did manage to post my squishy mail goodies for the Birthday Swap this month and now that the ladies have received them, I can show you….. Anthea requested purples or greens, bright cheery ones, so I managed to find some lovely blenders for her when I was in Melbourne….plus a postcard to help her feel like she was there too!!!  And you might notice a little “extra” for being a bit late…..a cute purple babushka keyring and a pair of heart buttons. O-Faigh requested white on white so I found this gorgeous FQ for her, and I couldn’t resist some shabby pink heart ribbon and buttons to match. I also received some surprise squishy mail….I really wasn’t expecting this one, but Susan had asked me for my address a while back as she wanted to send me something ‘small’!!!! I had forgotten about it but this absolutely ‘wow’ed me!!!! I had blogged about how I’d been working on my flying geese with the Delightful Stars Quilt Along and how happy I’d been with how they’d been turning out.  Susan was telling me about her way of making flying geese where they turned out perfect every time…..I tried it and she was right …I shared about it HERE.   She said she used a special ruler for it but as I didn’t have one, I just used my regular ruler………so………she decided she’d send me one to make it easier!   She really is a darling, isn’t she??? I have a couple of blocks to catch up on so I’m going to try it with this new ruler!!!   Thank you sooooo much Susan…..Can’t wait! And I have been waiting for this one with anticipation……. the new Vignette.   Now I can go on with the second block of the Mrs Beasley’s Sampler Quilt.  I got my copy from the lovely Vicki at The Pickledish Patch…..pop on over to get yours. FNWF and birthday wishes to go

Friday night at Chez’s  didn’t quite go to plan for me, as hubby decided to take me out for dinner…..again????  three Friday nights in a row?????  This HAS to be a record…but I’m definitely NOT complaining!!!!!! But I did manage to get some stitching in…just a little…when we got home…..(thanks Chez for the encouragement!!!!!  Always love Friday nights with friends!!!!) some more stitching on my Mrs Beasley’s BOM from the latest Vignette magazine…..don’t you just love those Tilda fabrics??? And then I woke on Saturday and thought, what the heck……it’s got to be Friday somewhere in the world….so my FNWF continued with…… ….block 5 of my Aiming for Accuracy quiltalong with Michelle…it’s not too late to join us….you can get all the details if you click on the Aiming for Accuracy button on my sidebar…. AND…….. I also managed to get some sashings put together on my Long Time Ago in Bethlehem quilt……which is causing me some mathematical headaches……who’d’ve thunk that adding a couple of extra inches in borders would alter the pattern so dramatically…..aargh!!!!!!!…. …….but I’m sure it will be worth it in the end!!! **NOTE:  For all of those people who have been asking about block 1 of this wonderful stitch-a-long that was designed by Nataisha Curtin of Smee Designs and featured in Homespun magazine last year……you can purchase the original block pattern in the copy of the magazine from Zinio and within your purchase, there will be a link to the pattern page which you will need to download and print out…..it will take 4 pages so you’ll have to stick them together before you can trace them out…but it works…..trust me!!!!!     Hope this helps out those of you who have been having problems!!!!! and…. the biggest and brightest  birthday wishes to a very special blogger and buddy extraordinaire…..
