FNSI Winner

My apologies for a late drawing...I spent the day with friends, family and servicemen and women, beginning this morning at our Anzac Day Parade, then at the local RSL sharing many a story of mateship, war and love of country.

Our cousin's son is in the RAAF and gave a moving speech...he looked so regal in his uniform with his badges blazoned on his chest.  He has been overseas on a few occasions and has many stories to tell.   It was inspirational and made us all very proud.  I was so enthralled, I forgot to take photos but his picture will be in our local paper so I will share soon.

Onto  Friday Night Sew In... We had 23 people joining in on Friday night...and we got loads done.  You just have to pop back to the links and see what everyone got up to...just masses of inspiration!

Our lucky winner this month is going to win a copy of my design, 'En Pointe' along with a fat quarter to get them started.  This is one of my favourite designs and would be a great gift to adorn the dresser of  a promising little ballerina.  Some stitchery, some applique with borders of prairie points, this pattern is a fun one to complete.
So without further ado and with the help of trusty Mr RNG.....
.....our lucky winner is .....
SHEZ
CONGRATULATIONS

...and I'll make sure I get that off in the post to you pronto!

Now I must remember tomorrow is Wednesday and go to work, because it really feels like Sunday afternoon right now!  Hope you've had a lovely Anzac Day reflecting on our wonderful country, and if you're not in Australia or New Zealand, then I hope your day has been super special just the same! I'm off to sit and finish my last 'Plates' block whilst I watch the Masterchef semi-finals.

My FNSI

I managed to stitch for a bit on Friday night for our FNSI get-together...and a little on Saturday afternoon....and a touch more today!

It's a good thing, because I'm on my last block of my Brandy Gully 'Plates' Quilt and then I can make it up.  (Thanks gorgeous Nikki for designing such a beauty!)

I love this part - where it's so close to finishing you can see it all together.  I'm visualising it on the back of my lounge, or perhaps I will hang it at the end of our hallway, I'm still deciding.  Better make up my mind, it won't be long now!

Remember to see what all the other ladies managed to get done at our monthly soiree.  There's some beauties. Just go back to my last post where you'll find all the links.
And I'll see you tomorrow for our prize draw...it's a surprise this month, but you know they're always fun. *wink*

Special Days and FNSI

I hope everyone had a lovely and safe Easter weekend.  Ours was very quiet, spent with family and friends, reflecting on the true meaning of Easter.

I can't believe it's already over though and we're hurtling towards the middle of the year, can you?  Next will be Anzac Day here in Australia and New Zealand, then Mother's Day, and before we know it, it will be Christmas again!  We seem to be living from celebration to celebration throughout the year, and they are starting to blend together!

Did you know that today is Haiku Poetry Day (believe it or not!) ?

Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry about beauty captured in short simple stanzas, in the space of 17 syllables, generally 5 in the first line, 7 in the second and 5 in the third.
Haiku Poetry Day is a great opportunity to let your creativity flow, and really begin to appreciate the complexities of life refined down to simplicity.  Why not give it a go?  Seeing Friday night is our monthly virtual sew-in date, I thought I'd try to write a FNSI haiku!

Friday is the day
