Just checking in…
Just checking in…
I have been doing lots of sewing……really!!!!!! Just I haven’t had time to scratch, let alone blog……come on, admit it…..you have weeks like that too, don’t you???
Well,I thought I’d just check in and share what I’ve been up to…. (or a bit of it…..without all the boring day to day stuff)…….
I’ve been working on my ‘secret’ Name Game mini quilt for my ‘secret’ partner (hence my being M.I.A.). If you look closely, you’ll notice I’ve blanked out my partner’s name so I don’t give it away before she gets it……it’s very bright and cheery…..I’m liking it so far! It should be posted this week…and yes, I do work best under pressure!!!!
I’ve also been working on some more of my Nice People Nice Things stitcheries, but haven’t got a current photo, but I can inform you that I only have 1 and a bit stitcheries left before I can put this beauty together…..it’s only taken me 3 years!!!!! Nothing like stretching it out!!!
And this month it was a black and white theme for our FQ swap….me with my head in a spin, has mine ready to post…..tomorrow!!!….but my partner was very organised and I received mine from Barb last week…..
Not only did Barb send me the two fat quarters, I got threads, ribbon and buttons to match!……beautiful, Barb….thank you! If you’d like to join us in the FQ swap you still can…..just email Cathy and the girls here.
Amanda sent me these beautiful little fellows….they’re pins…..aren’t they just gorgeous???? she makes them herself…..such a clever gal! And she was uber-fast……I asked her to make me some one day and they were mailed to me and arrived by the end of the week. They must have ‘flown’ express!!!! bwah ha ha!!!Ok….off to my cave to finish tidying up and to start some machine quilting!!!!!

FNSI #2 and a free B.O.M.
FNSI #2 and a free B.O.M.
Not much done this weekend due to most of it spent preparing DS for life away from home, uni-style!!!
But I did manage to get a couple of blocks started for the Craftsy BOM using these beauties…
They’re Free Spirit Fabrics’ ‘Boho’ by Annette Tatum….not my regular choice of fabrics but they look great stitched into blocks and I love ‘em………
Teamed with Robert Kauffman’s Kona Cotton Solids in Snow, I can’t wait to see each block each month.
You can join in too……it’s a free BOM which you can register for here. Two new blocks on the first of each month…..sweeeeeet! Even I can handle that!
And I even fitted in a buddy-date with a girlfriend on Friday night….watching her daughter perform in our local production of ‘Grease’. Couldn’t stop rocking in our seats….I remember going to see the movie when it first came out, with my English class in year 8…….now we’re going back some!!!!! LOL
Next month, why don’t you join me on the Friday Night Sew In too? Read all about it here and we’ll see what finishes we can both get done!

ain’t love grand?
ain’t love grand?
I can’t believe where the time has gone…..
nearly two weeks since a post???? My goodness…..some prompting from fellow bloggers brought me back to reality…. I’ve been bustling around since my DS returned from his holiday to Canada……getting his licence (yay!!!!), going for specialist appointments (boooo!!), preparing for university (mmmmm ) This one’s been driving us crazy…. trying to organise rental units after finding out at a VERY late stage there were no uni rooms available for him….uuuurghh!!!!!, getting a new computer for him, having a very sick hubby (whose now much better!), finding out my back is much worse after the accident than first thought, and also finding out my knee is STILL wonky and I’m unable to return to work!!!!…..having no car, (seeing DS has relinquished my old car as his now and my ‘baby’ is in at the smash repairs for at least a month) and working around just the general day to day ‘stuff’.
I have been busy doing some stitchy business though…..
…I’m nearing the end of my Nice People Nice Things stitcheries and will be starting to put the blocks together soon!!!! woohoo…..this has been a very long project I started in 2009…..over 100 stitchery blocks just don’t get stitched in an afternoon at my place!!! hee hee Well, that’s my excuse anyway!!!
I love that roses block…..
…but not nearly as much as my roses hubby bought me for Valentines Day….
He always surprises me with a dozen red roses and a singing and dancing toy….delivered to me….and the lady delivering MUST stay until the dance and song has finished!!!! (His instructions!!!)
This year, it was the cutest hippo….. can’t attach the video to share with you……google won’t let me!!!! gggrrrrr….it would give you such a giggle!
Aaahhhh….ain’t love grand?!
