June FNSI wins

I've been winning this month with the things I accomplished during FNSI.

I was able to spend Friday, all day, on my projects and my plan was to get as much of my Nikki Tervo "Plates" flimsy done.
sugarlane-designs.com
I DID get the top finished and I am liking how it's coming together.

I moved onto a stitchery I've been working on - Simple Joys by Natalie Bird of The Birdhouse   Such a cute stitchery and I love the Theadora Cleave button too.

By early evening, I took a break for dinner and enjoyed a little tipple of chocolate port...a very special gift from my brother and sister in law.....am I THAT easy to read? *cheeky grin*

I finished off the night with a quick project - my Anni Downs/Hatched and Patched SEW Project Pouch   I had a kit for this and thought I'd get it started, not realising how super-fast this project really was!   Isn't the fabric adorable?

I was sewing on the binding towards the latter end of the night, finishing it completely.

It was a marathon FNSI for me and it felt like I just couldn't lose!  Everything was just going perfectly..... and I had a number of things I planned come to fruition.  This month I'm sure to see more than one OPAM finish which is a rarity for me!  How about you?  How did you go?  Have you had a chance to pop back to THIS last post to check what other FNSIers made?   There's loads of inspiration there amongst great friends.

Having such a winning FNSI inspired this month's prize .....

....this wonderful book by Patrick Lose - a gifted and talented quilter who is definitely a winner in my books.  He may be Lose by name but never by nature!    So who is our winner this month you ask?

FNSI sign ups...where oh where does the time go???

This past month has just gone in a flash for me....I just don't know where it went!  I can say I've been working a little more and spending time with my in-laws and sitting stitching in front of the tv at night as it's been cooler, or snuggled up in bed but other than that, time seems to be zipping by.
I have managed a few things though....

So I guess I have been busy?

I am planning on finishing the borders on my Nikki Tervo "Plates" Quilt at FNSI this month.  What about you?  What will you plan to do?  Sign ups are below, so link in and join this Friday, the third Friday of the month with all of our online crafty friends.

FNWF

A bit of stitching happened when I sat with my friends at FNWF (thanks Chez for a great night BTW!)
I started early as it was my Father-in-law's 82nd birthday which we celebrated in the evening.
(Happy birthday Dad! <3)

So Fri-DAY with Friends started with a swap make....
...then working on a stitchery for the gift pile....

I just love Nikki's Brandy Gully stitcheries!
I'm thinking I should unpick the poem text as two strands is just too thick and one strand won't cover the print so maybe I should just leave it...what do you think?

Thanks again Chez for a wonderful day.....see what the other girls were up to HERE

My FNSI

I managed to stitch for a bit on Friday night for our FNSI get-together...and a little on Saturday afternoon....and a touch more today!

It's a good thing, because I'm on my last block of my Brandy Gully 'Plates' Quilt and then I can make it up.  (Thanks gorgeous Nikki for designing such a beauty!)

I love this part - where it's so close to finishing you can see it all together.  I'm visualising it on the back of my lounge, or perhaps I will hang it at the end of our hallway, I'm still deciding.  Better make up my mind, it won't be long now!

Remember to see what all the other ladies managed to get done at our monthly soiree.  There's some beauties. Just go back to my last post where you'll find all the links.
And I'll see you tomorrow for our prize draw...it's a surprise this month, but you know they're always fun. *wink*

fun times and catch ups

It’s always fun to catch up with the girls and Wednesday was the day…..unfortunately I got home and felt sick as a dog……not because of the girls ….. or the food…….but a throat bug had bitten and my throat ached and ears ached and head ached and I felt so lethargic I couldn’t be bothered to do A N Y T H I N G let alone blog… I think i picked it up at the hospital as I had to visit afterwards to put in paperwork for Dad’s (FIL) operation next week…. ..but I’m feeling a touch better now so I’m excited to share…. IMG_4635 (768x1024) ….our special birthday celebrations for Heather.   You might remember I showed some sneaky pics HERE…..well, the reason I couldn’t show it was because it was THE birthday girl’s gift……a sweet scalloped table topper made with Moda’s Collection for A Cause range in pretty pinks, mauves, sages and blues.  …..and as she’s always trying to tuck my chooky oil burner under her shirt as she leaves my house, I decided to get her a rooster of her own……isn’t he gorgeous!  He’s wearing the tag that Jen made for her round his neck.  Just too cute for words! There was lots of chatting and laughing and pensive thoughts…..IMG_4636 (768x1024) IMG_4638 (1024x1024) ….and some constant flashing by an avid photographer….. IMG_4637 (768x1024) and some gorgeous delights made by Jen…..lemon and blueberry muffins….mmmmmm…. IMG_4640 (1024x1024) We even got some stitching done……. IMG_4641 (1024x768) the birthday girl was working on this cute Christmas stitchery, IMG_4642 (768x1024) Barb continued on her Rosedaisy bunting for her neice, IMG_4644 (768x1024) Michelle worked on her stitchery blocks for her sewing bag… IMG_4646 (768x1024)
Jen worked on a new design which, I swore under oath I wouldn’t share, but I didn’t say I wouldn’t share her gorgeous cushion that she rests her stitching on as she stitches….isn’t it just perfect? I managed to complete my first block of Nikki Tervo’s (Brandy Gully)  “Plates” BOM stitchery and began working on the next one…I just love these, they’re sooooo pretty. wendy stitchery 2 (1024x768) IMG_4652 (768x1024) Yesterday I even managed to catch up on my second last block of Quilty Stitches….. IMG_4651 (768x1024) I’m thinking this is my favourite block…I love the way the coloured threads on the spools subtly change colour, don’t you??  This one was finished last night, a very quick block, so if you haven’t started these yet, they are really quick and easy and Corey has really good instructions, even if you’ve never cross-stitched before….. Can’t wait to frame this and hang it in my sewing room! Fun times, that’s for sure! Sugary hugs xox  :o) my signature
