Friday Night Connections and a June FNSI Winner is Announced

I always enjoy our Friday Night Sew Ins.........joining in with so many of you and whether we're knitting, crocheting, stitching or sewing, we have a connection.....

...and even though we may be miles apart, states apart, countries apart, continents apart.....we have that connection, even though we seem to be 'worlds' apart.....I think that's why I love our sew-ins so much.   It doesn't matter who we are, what we look like, what we do, how we entertain ourselves whilst we enjoy our craft, there's no arguments or fisty-cuffs......we always feel the positive connections.....and, if I dare take a line from Mr Buble....... "I feel so good!"
So, what did I get up to whilst I was feeling these warm fuzzies???
a bit-o'-Stitching.........

A friend of mine had started the Girl's Day Out BOM but didn't feel like finishing it, so I offered to finish it for her.  I've always wanted to do it, but missed it when it came out and well, you know how it goes...?
She had a few blocks started with some shapes fused on and some smaller stitchery blocks were finished along with a couple of the larger blocks.

Friday night I dug out the Antique shop block, which was half finished, and finished the stitcheries of the shelves inside the shop, as the rest was done.  Then I began on the Cafe block, applique-ing the fused pieces and beginning the stitchery.    I didn't get a huge amount done as I was exhausted and I think my body was feeling the foreboding wet weather we were due to have as every bone in my body ached (maybe it was the fact I'd worked all week and had to front up again on Saturday!?.....I'm just not used to it, that's for sure).

After work on Saturday and Federal Election training (I've been asked to work at the upcoming election), I got back into it with a glass of wine by my side....as the rain began to fall.  Sunday was the perfect weather for stitchery with a steady downpour all day, so I did get a bit more done....not a lot because there was also a need to catch up on some sleep and rest my aching bones.  But I'm happy with it's progress, all the same.  I sure hope my friend likes how it's coming along.  I can see this progressing further this week.

Have you had a chance to visit everyone to see what they got up to on Friday night?   I haven't as yet, but I do plan to this week.  Pop back to the sign up page and click on each link to see.....and don't forget to leave a comment, it's a real motivator each month!

I bet you're wondering who our lucky winner of our Tropical  Dreamcatcher Batiks Charm pack is?

I consulted with Mr RNG (as he's always so reliable), and he drew this number out of the hat....

Congratulations
ANTHEA

Anthea didn't feel very productive but she was..... in more ways than one.   Check out her post to see why.

Now I'm off to catch some zzzzz's before work again tomorrow......no rest for the wicked, so they say!!!!  tee hee

FNSI ….it’s got to be Friday SOMEWHERE in the world, right?!

It’s Sunday evening….9pm……and I’ve finished my Friday Night Sew In Project!!!!!…….nothing like extending that Friday Night as long as you can……well…….it is Friday Night ‘somewhere’ in the world, isn’t it?????  LOL We all know I work best under pressure and our Guild’s quilt show is being held next week……(set up is Wednesday)……we have been given a piece of challenge fabric to design ‘whatever’ we want…..as long as it is no bigger than 36” square…… Ok…….pressure????   I began mine Friday night!!!!!      When I saw the fabric, a brown/maroon/khaki/beige paisley design, I had very little idea of what to do with it…..but as I got to know it - stroked it and talked to it (c’mon….we all do that, right????),  it sorta looked very Australiana to me……. …..how more Aussie than a slouch hat full of pansies????? (nice tootsies!!!! LOL   just noticed them hee hee) 002 (Medium) The design was already drawn for another purpose, so Friday night was prepping the applique pieces, fusing them and starting the stitching…. 005 (Medium)003 (Medium)004 (Medium)               I didn’t get too much further than this…..but, in my wisdom (and with a deadline to meet!!), I figured…..”It’s got to be Friday night SOMEWHERE in the world!”, so I continued on into Saturday, and then into Sunday and finished this evening, ready to put in the frame tomorrow…… 007 (Medium) See what I mean about the Australiana ‘look’……to me, that paisley has almost become an Aboriginal print 009 (Medium)008 (Medium) ….and what better way to commemorate what our diggers did for us all those years ago…. …..and it’s ready (well almost!) to display at our Quilt Show with plenty of time to spare!  So now to take a breather and see what everyone else got up to for FNSI.  Remember, make sure your post is up by midnight tonight, my time to be included in the draw for this month’s prize of …… 004 (Medium) ….these beauties…..fat quarters courtesy of Andrea of Hibiscus Stitches……go and visit and tell her how fabulous she is!!!!!!
