TWO winners for FNSI

Thanks to all who offered their condolences, sympathies, love and hugs on the passing of my father (in-law).  I truly feel blessed to have a virtual family I can turn to when times get tough and I always know you'll all be there for me......the quilting family really is a unique one, don't you agree?  Love and hugs to you all.....only wish I could reach through the screen and give you big sugary hugs for real.  It really has meant the world to me.

Now, I was planning to post what I did on my FNSI,  BUT.....just my luck, I came down with a head cold - again!  The last time, not so long ago, it was one of the Influenza strains and it hit pretty hard....but this time, it was just a stubborn head cold.

Nothing pleasant about it though, blocked sinuses, ear canals and drippy, sneezy nasal passages don't make it any easier.  So I've mostly stayed home and slept and drank plenty of fluids, trying really hard not to rub my nose red raw (but we all know that doesn't work when you've got a cold!) and spread the lurgy.  So both Saturday afternoon, Sunday and yesterday, when I was going to post, I sat down at the computer and my head said ,"Nope!  Sleep!" so I went and rested a bit.  I'm feeling a fair bit better today, still congested but not as sleepy so I'd say I'm over the uphill battle and on the downhill stretch.

I did manage to get some stitching done on Friday night though.....

A bit more of this UFO  was stitched down.  Now just the windows and doors and stitching the details.....oooh, and the flower bouquet along the bottom to go.
….and then there was a bit more stitching on THIS project.....

Block 6 is nearly complete and only 3 left till I can put this baby together.  With Christmas only 3 months away (today!) *eek*, I'd better get a wriggle on.

My FNSI

Didn't start till later on Friday as we had a funeral in the afternoon, so stitching Friday night was definitely needed.
I started working on my Foxley Village Block 2 - it's the Block of the Month in the 2016 Homespun Magazine designed by the lovely Natalie Bird....I always love her work......she is one talented Aussie designer.
This is where I got to by about 4pm this afternoon (once I started, I couldn't put it down!).....

I'm loving the Tilda fabrics used for the BOM kit I signed up for....it is from both the Autumn Tree and Sweetheart ranges.....so pretty and typically Tilda-ish.  I really need some practice with  my needleturn techniques....perhaps by the end of it I'll be better...it's been a while since I've done some needleturn and I'm a bit rusty!

I will be drawing a winner tomorrow night, in the meantime, pop on over {here} to see what everyone else got up to...some gorgeous projects underway that's for sure.

FNWF and birthday wishes to go

Friday night at Chez’s  didn’t quite go to plan for me, as hubby decided to take me out for dinner…..again????  three Friday nights in a row?????  This HAS to be a record…but I’m definitely NOT complaining!!!!!! But I did manage to get some stitching in…just a little…when we got home…..(thanks Chez for the encouragement!!!!!  Always love Friday nights with friends!!!!) some more stitching on my Mrs Beasley’s BOM from the latest Vignette magazine…..don’t you just love those Tilda fabrics??? And then I woke on Saturday and thought, what the heck……it’s got to be Friday somewhere in the world….so my FNWF continued with…… ….block 5 of my Aiming for Accuracy quiltalong with Michelle…it’s not too late to join us….you can get all the details if you click on the Aiming for Accuracy button on my sidebar…. AND…….. I also managed to get some sashings put together on my Long Time Ago in Bethlehem quilt……which is causing me some mathematical headaches……who’d’ve thunk that adding a couple of extra inches in borders would alter the pattern so dramatically…..aargh!!!!!!!…. …….but I’m sure it will be worth it in the end!!! **NOTE:  For all of those people who have been asking about block 1 of this wonderful stitch-a-long that was designed by Nataisha Curtin of Smee Designs and featured in Homespun magazine last year……you can purchase the original block pattern in the copy of the magazine from Zinio and within your purchase, there will be a link to the pattern page which you will need to download and print out…..it will take 4 pages so you’ll have to stick them together before you can trace them out…but it works…..trust me!!!!!     Hope this helps out those of you who have been having problems!!!!! and…. the biggest and brightest  birthday wishes to a very special blogger and buddy extraordinaire….. I have a confession to make..

Yes……I must admit…….I had all the plans and intention in the world in taking part in FNSI last night…….and hubby decided he’d take me out to dinner instead!   Who am I to say no??  We rarely get out these days, and later, as I was telling him I was supposed to be hosting FNSI, he apologised profusely and said I should have told him…….in the middle of eye fillet steak with scallop and prawn topper in a creamy garlicky seafood sauce???…..I don’t think so!!!!    So once he was convinced you ladies could manage without me, we went for dessert at another cute little restaurant where we had chocolate lava puddings….mm mmmmmmm!!!!   I never did get the chance to take a photo to share with you  *burp*…..sorreeeeee!!!!!!    Needless to say, it was just D-I-V-I-N-E!!!!! Well, I thought I would do some catch up when I got home and promptly sat in my chair to stitch (at least!), got three stitches done and dropped off to sleep……must have something to do with a contented belly??!! SO, instead I worked on it being Friday night somewhere in the world today and stitched to my heart’s content all day!!!!  My plans were to work on putting together my Homespun “Long Time Ago In Bethlehem” SAL and that’s what I did…. I was thinking I might frame each block in a darker fabric before I sash so today it was cutting blocks to size and framing….. A nice chocolate brown Moda Grunge Basics did the trick…..and I’ll follow up with the sashing I showed you yesterday….it will turn out slightly bigger but that’s ok…..some modifications will make it more personal don’t you think?  In fact, the more I look at that Innkeeper, the more he reminds me of hubby!!!!! LOL Maybe I’ve personalised it a little tooooo much??? hee hee. I’m off to see what others did in their timezones for FNSI…..why don’t you join me??? sugary hugs :o) xox
