OPAM finishes for August

Is it REALLY the end of the month already????

Where does the time go?  This year just seems to have raced past…….how on earth does that happen!

Oh well, so much to be grateful for….some don’t have the luxury of becoming older so I’m really not complaining.

Anyway….I have some finishes to share (believe it or not…..I surprised myself!)

Quilty Stitches….all framed and hanging in my ‘cave’.  I love this one.  Blocks are still available to download over on Little Miss Shabby’s blog…..the link is in my sidebar.

Last night I finished this …….It’s a gift so I can’t show you much more….yet!  Needless to say it’s done and ready to post.

Dont you just love the Riley Blake fabric?  So bright and cheery!

I also finished these 4 cuties….

and a stitchery/applique design that’s coming up in a future Patchwork & Stitching magazine.

that’s all I can show you but trust me, it’s done and dusted and in the hands of the editor!

A Finish in the wings…

Another block finished and one more block to catch up…. then only two more blocks to finish. I’m loving this Quilty Stitches Sampler-a-long generously hosted by Cory…..it’s still free on her blog if you want to go and download and start your own.  I’ve followed along with her colours but you could easily choose ones to suit your own decor.   However, being the ‘rebel’ (?) that I am,  I’m not going to fill in the background to each block because I like it the way it is….I might do a darker, maybe the charcoal (I used on the barn roof), border around the outside before I frame though. (talk about pushing the boundaries!)  And then I’ll have another finish for OPAM…at last! It always feels so good when there’s a finish in the wings, doesn’t it? Sugary hugs xox :o)

Catching up

Last night I did some catching up (and boy, haven’t I got a lot of that to do with my never ending list of ufo’s?) Squishy mail….

  It’s been quiet here in the Sugarlane house…….welcome rainy weather has prompted me to do some catch up stuff inside the house! A little progress on the Quilty Stitches Sampler Along with the sashings and borders nearly done…. I did manage to post my squishy mail goodies for the Birthday Swap this month and now that the ladies have received them, I can show you….. Anthea requested purples or greens, bright cheery ones, so I managed to find some lovely blenders for her when I was in Melbourne….plus a postcard to help her feel like she was there too!!!  And you might notice a little “extra” for being a bit late…..a cute purple babushka keyring and a pair of heart buttons. O-Faigh requested white on white so I found this gorgeous FQ for her, and I couldn’t resist some shabby pink heart ribbon and buttons to match. I also received some surprise squishy mail….I really wasn’t expecting this one, but Susan had asked me for my address a while back as she wanted to send me something ‘small’!!!! I had forgotten about it but this absolutely ‘wow’ed me!!!! I had blogged about how I’d been working on my flying geese with the Delightful Stars Quilt Along and how happy I’d been with how they’d been turning out.  Susan was telling me about her way of making flying geese where they turned out perfect every time…..I tried it and she was right …I shared about it HERE.   She said she used a special ruler for it but as I didn’t have one, I just used my regular ruler………so………she decided she’d send me one to make it easier!   She really is a darling, isn’t she??? I have a couple of blocks to catch up on so I’m going to try it with this new ruler!!!   Thank you sooooo much Susan…..Can’t wait! And I have been waiting for this one with anticipation……. the new Vignette.   Now I can go on with the second block of the Mrs Beasley’s Sampler Quilt.  I got my copy from the lovely Vicki at The Pickledish Patch…..pop on over to get yours. Off to catch up on some more rainy jobs while the weather is still lovely and cool!!!! xox sugary hugs :o)

F.N.S.I = Birdie Stitches near finished!

I have been working madly on getting my Birdie Stitches blocks up to date, so this month’s FNSI came just at the right time for me to put it all together….well, the flimsy anyway! And then today, it was perfect weather (rainy), to piece the backing together…. ….so now, it’s ready to sandwich and quilt….yippee!!!!!! What a way to spend International Quilters’ Day, eh????
