What I've been up to and July FNSI sign ups

The last two months have whizzed by.  I haven't lived in my own home but been staying as a carer with my mother in law and popping home daily to check on things since she returned from her rehab in the SEQ.  Between doctors appointments, physio, chiro, specialists and exercise classes there's not much time left to get much done!  She's doing well, by the way and looking good....the cat (Missy) is so happy to have her home and she's feeling much better after her heart attack earlier this year.  She's back into her cooking (which is her happy place)  but resting lots more.

She's not doing too badly for an 84 year old who's never been 'really' sick.  It's only been in the last year or so that she's started to take any tablets for anything other than panadol so she's done pretty well considering.

Consequently, I haven't got much done in the way of sewing....I've a few hand projects I've been working on getting done, or at least getting the hand stitching parts of projects done so I'm progressing slowly.....just nothing on the machine for now.

Even Moccha approves!!!

But today it's time to catch up and do some draws and prepare for this week's FNSI don't you think?

So, I talked to Mr Linky and checked with our Facebook Group Leader (me!!) and added a whole lotta names in the Wheel for May....(there were 40 of you.....I think that's our record so far...it's awesome having so many like minded stitchers join in) .......and remember I said there'd be TWO winners for May as it was my birthday month?

Well the first of our two lucky winners, who will receive our regular monthly prize of a $30 voucher donated by the lovely Dawn of Kitty Rose Cottage, is........

Congratulations gorgeous girl.....hope you enjoy your prize and purchase something you've always wanted!!!

The next prize was a special one as a birthday prize to say thank you for celebrating my birthday with me.   This person will receive a Tilda Club kit which has 6 Tilda Garden Life fat quarters and a beautiful pattern designed by Tied With A Ribbon.

Congratulations to Cheryll Shannon!!!!!  I hope you enjoy your special birthday prize!

And finally, The Wheel got another spin......do you think it's starting to get dizzy??  Our June winner was drawn from a list of 33 who joined in and our winner was.......

Congratulations to you Colleen Dunn.....you've won yourself a $30 voucher to spend at Kitty Rose Cottage on whatever your heart desires!  what a way to start the term!!!!

Now it's time to get ourselves sorted for this week's FNSI.....

Sign ups are below or on our Facebook Group page.  I'm looking forward to stitching with you all.  Have a wonderful week...back at school for Queenslanders too.....can't wait for Friday!

Friday Night Sew In sign-ups

Good evening.....a little late for me but I thought I'd better get this post up and running....after all, it is Tuesday already!  Where do these days go?

I have been managing a little stitching, but not as much as I'd like as I have an avid little attention seeker who loves to sit on my lap or tap my foot with his paw to let me know it's play time!

Max is 10 months old and, like any 10 month old, he's ready to play from 6am in the morning till bedtime!

But I have managed to squeeze in a little stitching.....catching up on this....

and finishing my first block of this.....

and finally getting this together and binding it tonight.....

Don't worry.....I have plenty to do this Friday Night!  What about you?  Have you got your Friday Night Sew In project ready yet?

Make sure you sign up below and block our Friday night on your calendar as it's set aside for you, me and all our wonderful friends around the world!  And follow along on the Facebook page too.

Check back to see what our lovely sponsor Kitty Rose from Kitty Rose Cottage is offering as a prize for this month......she's been rather caught up with packing kits these last couple of days, but I know it's on her agenda.  She has some lovely Tilda Garden Life on pre-order and the coordinating chambrays are to die for!

So what are we waiting for?   Sign ups below!  Have a fabulous week and see you on Friday!

My FNSI stitching, How about Yours?

My Friday Night Stitching consisted of catching up on a 'previously prepared' Tilda project that just never got past go!

By mid evening I had only just finished stitching the words and doing long stitch to hold the flowers down.....I will add buttons for centres when I'm finished.
I got a little further but, having worked all day, I was a bit tired so shut up shop and went to bed.   Yesterday I managed to get a bit more done and I hope to finish today.

I've nearly completed the border, which I've done in chain stitch (as Fee suggested) and I think it's come up a treat in Cottage Garden 105 Fuschia.

What did you think of the new Facebook page for our group?

I thought it added another level and gave people without blogs the chance to join in too.   I've had some comments saying they don't want this to migrate to Facebook....and I promise it won't.  It will remain primarily a blogging format just with the outreach of FB as another avenue.   I love visiting you all on blogs too much and find it adds more to getting to know one another than just the quick picture and comment so don't worry......I won't be moving it away.

For those of you who missed the memo......we now have a Facebook group page for FNSI.  Pop on by and join up if you'd like a quick snippet of what our Friday Night shenanigans are like!

Just a reminder now, to make sure your blog posts are up and running as tomorrow I will be drawing our Friday Night winner who will be receiving this.....

....the beautiful journal (not the rest...they were special gifts from VERY dear friends!!!!)  We all need to be reminded to start each day with a grateful heart and I'm sure the winner of this gorgeous journal will pen lots of things she's grateful for.

I'm off to finish my stitchery.  Hope you've managed some progress at our FNSI (and maybe even some finishes???).  Drop by everyone's blogs HERE to  click on their links and see.

Lockdown FNSI

Its Wednesday, in case you didn't know!  With all this Covid-19 and isolation, it's getting hard to remember what day it is, especially after Easter.  So I'm sorry but time has slipped by me again!  Such a slacker, I must get myself organised (not one of my better traits!).
@newscientist.com

I hope you have all been keeping well and safe and were blessed with a lovely Easter?  I have been still working, up until yesterday when I got the phone call to say that all staff had been laid off until this has all passed so I have been preoccupied with work and busyness...this morning was a little odd having a sleep in and at 11am, I'm still in my pyjamas!    Note to self:  I REALLY need to organise my schedule!    In our house we phoned and facebooked family and friends to keep in touch over the Easter weekend and Mr B supplied me with a healthy supply of chocolate Easter Eggs!  We have been practicing social distancing for a while now, and apart from shopping for food and going to work, we have done nothing...which has given me more time (and money!) for crafty stuff!  However, I need to make a special visit to the post office to post two very special gifts from the last two months....I've been wary of going outside my regular places and, like I said, I REALLY need to get organised!

I have been playing with some stitchery and stitching and have been encouraged by two very special friends who run two lovely facebook groups.   You may know them or even be members yourselves, but if you don't/aren't I recommend you take a look.  The inspiration is amazing in our lockdown phase.
The first one is the Tilda Lovers Club, hosted by my wonderful friend Fee.  She has encouraged us to try projects from one of the Tilda books each week and if we don't own that book, there's a project she posts up for us to complete.  Each week she offers prizes, courtesy of Two Green Zebras.  Two weeks ago, we made Easter bunnies, last week was a dapper dachshund and this week is a Tilda paper pieced pincushion.  I've had fun with each of them.....

I've also been stitching along with my good friend Natalie who joined with a group of crafty ladies on Facebook to create the Love and Hugs from Australia stitch-a-long.  16 lovely fellow Australian stitchers have donated a 6 inch block each to create during this lockdown so that we can stitch together and create them into anything you like.  Mine's going to become a lap quilt to remind me of our time during Covid-19.  I'm not as prolific as others and have only done five blocks but two I haven't got photos of yet so they'll be in my next post.

Why not pop over to either of these groups and join in the fun?  I'm sure I'll get a lot more of my UFO's finished, that is if I don't get to distracted by all the new pretties online!  So, with all this time on our hands, and all this stitching to be done, I'd like to invite you to sign up to our regular monthly Friday night Sew In.  Everyone is welcome and you can read more about it HERE if you're new and would like to find out more before you play along.  *Please note:  if you don't have a blog, you can play along using your Instagram account, Facebook or Pinterest if that's your thing.  Nobody should miss out on the fun!

It's taken me most of the day to learn the new Blogger and PicMonkey interfaces so I'm now off to do some stitching of my own.  Don't forget to sign up for Friday!
