Mixed blessings on the Wedding day

I had to utmost pleasure to witness a very close friend of mine, a teacher I team-taught with for 4 years, get married to the woman of his dreams yesterday…..it was beautiful……even better was watching a man with emotions (I’m talking, a man who has his guard up 24/7) shed a tear! none of this “he-man, manly, muscly, butch” stuff….but full-on, raw, exposed, REAL emotion…..it was beautiful. Set in a gorgeous tropical setting, it was a perfect day for the middle of winter (can you believe it?) and we even got to share the first meal with them at Watermark on the Strand.  With Marty being a HUGE Broncos fan, and Nay not knowing one end of the field from the other before she met Marty, the cake topper was the ideal choice… We enjoyed an afternoon of love, laughter and reminiscing…..the perfect combination in the most beautiful of settings…. It was an exceptionally beautiful day, all bar one thing…..I didn’t have their present ready…. I had been working on it day in-day out, trying to get it completed for the BIG day, but alas, the quilting beat me!  I still have a bit to go, but now it’s going to be their after-honeymoon gift. They assure me they don’t mind, but I have mixed emotions…wanting to complete it in time but wanting to have it ‘just perfect’ saw me not finishing it in time……. so it just means another visit real soon to these two wonderful newlyweds for their first very special delivery!  I’m sure I’ll be making a baby quilt in the near future *wink*   I’ll just have to plan my time better for that one!   May they be forever blessed. FNSI Winners for June

What a fabulous turnout we had for FNSI this month….I was so happy to have you come and join me. o/ And yes, I did make my pudding….but I made a ‘bit’ of a healthier option…..I used ‘extra light’ sour cream instead of the full cream variety, and instead of all that sugar in the sauce, I used this….. Quite expensive, but definitely worth the health benefits….even tastes just like sugar in cooking…no yukky aftertaste at all.   It was delish……as was this project I’ve been working on… this was Friday night’s effort….and by last night, this is where I had got to… I”m thinking it’s perfect for the purpose….looks like wedding rings to me….do you think so?  This still needs borders put onto it but I’m on a deadline as the wedding is THIS SATURDAY……did I tell you I work best under pressure!? (by the way, I just love the fabrics from Blackbird Designs) zzzzzz Well, Mr RNG has done his thing and has drawn the two lucky winners this month….and he was very thoughtful this month…..I only had to draw twice……as our Southern Hemisphere winner was drawn on the first ‘spin’ and our Northern Hemisphere winner on the second! Congratulations  BARB and  EDI  !!!!!!!!! Woohoo……..I’ll be getting their prizes out very soon! It’s well worth a visit to their blogs to see what they’ve been up to…..as well as all the other wonderful ladies that joined in on Friday night!  Hope you can make it next month? An Olde World kinda Sunday

It’s been a cool and miserable weekend…..the perfect kind for quilting, which I’m thrilled about.  We rarely get cool, wet weather, it’s usually either cool or wet but rarely both…..I guess that’s what you get living in the tropics? But this weekend has been perfect for working on a new quilt for a friend’s wedding in a couple of weeks…… I’m using an old favourite with an olde world charm……Old Primrose Inn, by Blackbird Designs for Moda….I’ve been saving it for something ‘special’ and when I asked what the couple’s favourite colours were, they mentioned they liked ‘traditional’ and classy styles but a touch of modern…..browns were good …….and I was sort of left open with the decision.  I checked in my stash and found quite a bit of ‘ye olde’ faithful sitting there begging, “Pick me, pick me”….how could I resist!?  I think it will fit the bill perfectly, don’t you? I think I could snuggle up with it, so if they don’t like it they can always give it back??  (I’ll even stitch a ‘return to sender’ label with my address….just in case!)  so…..what are you up to this weekend?  Hope you’re all snuggly and surrounded by olde world charm too.
