Raggedy Friends Flimsy and an Invitation to you….

Well, here it is….the top is done! Whew!!!  I really loved this when I saw it on Kaaren’s blog as a BOM and I’m so pleased I kept up with it…I love it!   It’s a little bit different to Kaaren’s as I misread some of the patterns and had to make some ‘adaptations’!!!!   All made from scraps from my scrap basket….except for the border……Wendy supplied that!!!!!  Most of the stitcheries were done whilst I was in hospital or recovering, but some were done beforehand, when I needed a break from the ‘everyday’.  006 007 A bit hard to see but it gives you a bit of an idea of what it will look like when it is truly finished!!!!   It’s off at the quilter’s now ready for its ‘dressing up’ !!!  So hopefully by the end of next week I’ll be able to show you my finished Raggedy Friends!!! If you haven’t done so, drop on over to Kaaren’s blog, look at her beautiful house, garden and quilty bits and bobs and send her some well-wishes after her recent visit to hospital!  She’s an angel, and a very generous soul….she could do with some love from her bloggy friends! angel1-border-horizontalth I didn’t think my ‘Raggedy Friends’ was going to be ready for our Burdekin Biennial Quilt Show which will be held in Ayr from 28th-31st July in the Music Loft of our Theatre. Townsville If anyone is travelling up this way, we’d love to see you and share a cuppa and a plate….don’t even have to bring your own….and it will have some yummies on it…..can guarantee it because our quilty ladies are also ve-ry good cooks!!!!! mmmmmm  burp!!! And there will be a smorgasbord of quilts to drool over too!!!!! Hope your week is full of finishes!!!  Sugary hugs XXX Wendy :0)

a sneaky peek finish, an almost there and some shopping!

If you remember this sneaky peek….. 007 ….well, this is what it became….. 001 Dawn was my very first commenter and follower and she has held a very special place in my heart from day one.   I have come to know her pretty well over the past 12 months, and in sharing the blog ‘Sew It’s Finished’ and chatting over the phone weekly, even though we have never met, I knew I just had to make her something special and that this would suit her down to the ground!  Being a fan of rework, this stitchery caught my eye when I flicked through my Turning Twenty books….it comes from ‘Turning Twenty Around the Block’ book by Tricia Cribbs and is one from the ‘Love Covers’ design. 011 I modified and and made it my own, using back stitch, satin stitch for the apples and lots of french knots for the flowers.  I added a pinky star surrounding and attached it to a canvas for her to hang in her sewing room.  Now she can look at it and know how much she’s loved!!!!!  (and I’ve heard she loved it……she wrote about it here).  aster-borderth Our Guild is having its Biennial Quilt Exhibition at the end of the month and we’ve been given some ‘challenge’ fabric to work with.  Our instructions are to make something no smaller than A3 size to no bigger than 36” square.  Well, I take things a little literally sometimes…..I heard the word “Challenge” and so that’s what I did…..I wanted to ‘challenge’ myself so I’ve used my ‘challenge’ fabric to do some foundation piecing.  I’ve only done it once before so thought this was a ‘challenge’ worth attempting!!! You can see I’ve used a block from the 3rd book of Quiltmaker’s 100 blocks series ….QM21111 ….and here’s my version…..the challenge fabric is the main fabric in the skirt…..I’ve added tulle over the top to give it a ‘ballet tutu’ feel! Only partway there though, as I’ve got more plans with this one….you’ll just have to keep coming back to see how it develops!!!! 010 I also got a birthday gift which our Patchworking Group organised for our members. These were handed out at our meeting yesterday for people who had their birthdays in the first half of the year….I can see lots of uses for these little babies!!!! 013 cupcake-borderhth And in getting prepared for the quilt show….I NEEDED some more fabric!!!!!!  So off we trotted to see Wendy at IddyBiddy Cottage 001 002 003 005 All I can say is “Yum Yum Yum”….no fabric diet in this house!!!! And I’ve a friend having a 50th birthday party in October and the theme is Halloween, so……………. 007 …just a few fat quarters to make the party girl a gift to remember!!! pumpkin-border-hth When I got home, I felt like these two pairs……… 009   017 ….exhausted and in need of a good rest!!!! Hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend…I’m off to work on finishing my Raggedy Friends!   ( I hope you’ve been able to help Allie out with a block for Kaaren’s quilt too??….If not, you can get the link here) take care and Sugary hugs XXX Wendy :o)

A quilt for Kaaren….please help!

I’ve posted here before about my work on Raggedy Friends and how I looooooove Kaaren’s design. Raggedy Ann and Friends small She’s been busy moving house and has taken a break from blogging due to a serious health issue rearing its ugly head. Kaaren’s always been so generous with her FFF (First Friday Freebie) and her BOM and many other ‘gives’ that my lovely blogging friend Allie is asking us to make a block and send it to her (Allie!) so she (along with Paulette and Leslie) can make her a quilt to show how much we care and love her! Visit Kaaren here and let her know our thoughts and prayers are with her and drop in to see Allie and nominate to make a block so that lots of lovin’ quilty hugs and prayers can be given! sugary hugs Wendy :O)
