Join me on a challenge?

I’m all up for starting afresh at the beginning of each year…believe me, I need every incentive I can get to finish that ever-growing list of UFOs, so I was excited when I read Fee’s post about the APQ’s UFO Challenge 2015.

impossible

It’s so logical and seems so easy….It’s one of those, ‘why didn’t I think of that’ moments…  Simply….

1. Download the chart.

2. Fill in twelve projects that you want to finish this year. You can choose from any of your UFOs. If you have a kit you bought but never opened or fabric you've been holding on to for too long, add using it up to the list. Embroidery, knitting, crochet, scrapbooking, and painting can count toward your list, too!

3. On the first Monday of each month, they'll randomly draw a number 1--12. That number will correspond with which number project you work on throughout the month. Fill in the description of where you were in the project before you start.

4. At the end of the month, fill in your progress and post pictures

5. By the end of the year, you'll have 12 finished projects! Or you'll at least have made a significant dent in your stack of UFOs.

So I’ve downloaded my list from here, and completed it with just ‘some’ of the many UFOs tucked away.

Believe me, I’ve tried to write all of them down and work my way through them but it always seems so overwhelming that I don’t even start, so this is one way to at least get 12 on the list done…..and knowing me (the procrastinator that I am), once I’ve starting and had some success, there might actually be MORE than 12 that get completed, because we all know starting is the hardest part! (don’t we?……Or is it just me?)

This month number 4 was randomly chosen, so that means I’m working on the Christmas Blessings Quilt, so I did a little more last night, adding some stitching to one of the blocks.

I have high hopes.  Will you join me?

Tickled Pink

I decided to pull out this UFO yesterday and finish ‘something’ in my pile. rather than start new things….a plan I’ve been working on (very ineffectively) for ‘quite some time’! This one started in a Colourque workshop with Helen Stubbings back in 2008……..a cushion called “Tickled Pink”, that’s what it’s making me feel as I see it come together at last…. 004 (Medium) Yesterday I played with the buttonhole attachment on my machine…. 001 (Medium) ..and did a little bit of hand quilting embellishment…. 003 (Medium) …a bit more today ( I LOVE my Frixion pens)…. 002 (Medium) …then sew on the frilly pink Robyn Pandolph loveliness…. 005 (Medium) and I’ll be totally Tickled Pink by the end of the day! past the finish line….

While most of the district has been involved in V8 fever with the V8 supercars battling it out in Townsville this weekend, Tyre Rule Tweaked In Townsvillephoto courtesy of http://www.v8supercars.com.au/ I’ve been battling it out on my sewing machine this week, working on one of my long-standing UFO’s that I just kept postponing for fear of messing up.  (do you do that too….or is it just a ‘me’ thing???)   Finally, finally, finally……this li’l baby has made it past the finish line……. 014 (Medium)   It’s my Market Baguette Bag…a Cinderberry Stitches design by Natalie Lymer and I just love it!   I made a couple of modifications…..magnetic clasps instead of the ties, as I know how frustrated I would become if I had to tie and untie them every time I went into my bag….and they work a treat! 019 (Medium)022 (Medium) And I also stitched some vertical ‘fold’ lines into the sides, so they folded inwards rather than gaped out as I carried it around. 018 (Medium) these little birdies are just so ‘tweet’!!!!!  It’s now my ‘go to’ bag when I hit the shops…..and I continue to ask myself…….why oh why did it take me soooo long to finish it!?! Off to look for more of those ‘scary’ UFOs to get to the finish line!!!  How about you?????  Sugary hugs :O) Signature

ain’t love grand?

I can’t believe where the time has gone….. nearly two weeks since a post????  My goodness…..some prompting from fellow bloggers brought me back to reality…. I’ve been bustling around since my DS returned from his holiday to Canada……getting his licence (yay!!!!), going for specialist appointments (boooo!!), preparing for university (mmmmm Confused smile)  This one’s been driving us crazy…. trying to organise rental units after finding out at a VERY late stage there were no uni rooms available for him….uuuurghh!!!!!, getting a new computer for him,  having a very sick hubby (whose now much better!), finding out my back is much worse after the accident than first thought, and also finding out my knee is STILL wonky and I’m unable to return to work!!!!…..having no car, (seeing DS has relinquished my old car as his now and my ‘baby’ is in at the smash repairs for at least a month) and working around just the general day to day ‘stuff’. I have been busy doing some stitchy business though….. 015 014 013 …I’m nearing the end of my Nice People Nice Things stitcheries and will be starting to put the blocks together soon!!!!  woohoo…..this has been a very long project I started in 2009…..over 100 stitchery blocks just don’t get stitched in an afternoon at my place!!! hee hee  Well, that’s my excuse anyway!!! I love that roses block….. 012 …but not nearly as much as my roses hubby bought me for Valentines Day…. 008 He always surprises me with a dozen red roses and a singing and dancing toy….delivered to me….and the lady delivering MUST stay until the dance and song has finished!!!!  (His instructions!!!) 009 This year, it was the cutest hippo…..  can’t attach the video to share with you……google won’t let me!!!! gggrrrrr….it would give you such a giggle! Aaahhhh….ain’t love grand?! Sugary Hugs :O)  xoxoxo my signature
