FNSI progress

I got a little done on Friday Night.....it has been a busy week with my father in law taking a turn on Wednesday Night and ending up in hospital.   We didn't leave 'til about 2am and up there again at 8 for doctor's rounds.   Thursday was a waiting game filled with tests galore and Friday he was sent home....seems Alzheimers and early onset Dementia was the cause of what we thought was a light stroke, although they didn't rule that out entirely.

The future's not looking rosy but it could be worse so we're looking on the bright side...Dad's still here with us and we're going to make the best of it with him.

So Friday night I was exhausted but I did manage to get some stitching done.
I started with a plan to get these done ....

...and by the end of the night I had got to this stage....

It ended up an earlier night than I'd planned, catching up on sleep and as I couldn't think straight, there was more reverse stitching than progress so it was time to put it to bed!  Needless to say, after a rested night, I've managed to get three out of the four complete and I plan to finish the last one tonight.  That leaves me with only 4 more stitcheries before I can piece the Girls' Day Out Quilt.  I'm getting excited.

So what did you do for FNSI?  Have you posted about it yet?  Don't forget, because I'll be drawing one name out randomly tomorrow to win this month's prize.  If you'd like to visit everyone, click on the links {here} and you'll see the inspiring work that was done on Friday night.

I'm off visiting now....

Checking In

This week has just flown by...what with working, stitching new designs, getting Christmas gifts finalised, specialist visits with hubby and checking in on my mother in law who has hurt her back, I haven't had much blogging time....so I thought I'd quickly check in.
This afternoon I'm stitching up a Christmas gift....
While I 'babysit' Mum-in-law.  Using some gorgeous Cottage Garden threads....just love how they stitch out!  Off to prepare lunch....hope you're getting lots done

Catch up day

Phew….this week has gone by like a firestorm, hasn’t it?  I can’t believe it’s Thursday already……but, I must admit, I have had to work all three days this week so far, so really, this is my first day of catch up at home…and there’s so much to do!  (How on EARTH did I fit in full-time work before, I wonder?)

So here’s a quick rundown of what’s been happening here….

I sent off a parcel to Claire for her birthday this week……it was part of our Birthday Club swap and she was the lucky girl who I had to make a gift for and really ‘glam’ up her birthday, rather than just the normal fat quarter we sent each other…..

Quite inconspicuous, and it really doesn’t give a clue as to the surprise inside…….fully charged with Claire’s favourite colours…..red and aqua…

I really hope she likes it…..I just love a birthday, don’t you?

Then I was the lucky one….I won a prize in the Patchwork & Quilting Celebrations…totally unexpected but very very happy…..it arrived on Tuesday and how surprised was I?

This HUGE box filled to the brim….

I’ve got great plans!

I received a couple of blocks in the Scrappy Bee Block challenge….

…and I’ve even managed to make one myself…

DSCN0267 (1024x768)

These blocks are soooo easy and quick to do and take very little fabric….good for using up the scrap pile, as each take only a strip, 16in x 2 1/2in fabric in 6 different colours.  NOICE!!!!The ‘recipe’ to make this block is HERE….a nice quick scrap buster!

I have managed to keep up with these beauties

PicMonkey Collage 2

Now, today will be spent sewing them up into a wall hanging….can’t wait to get behind ‘the boss’ again today!  It’s been too long!

Another great Monday with Friends and BLS forgetfulness!!!!!

I love my Mondays, when I can gather together with great friends and share gorgeous stitching, wonderful food, lots of laughs and girl talk Michelle was our host yesterday and whilst travelling to her place, I encountered a bit of stormy weather! 010 (Medium) but it was definitely worth it to share time with my crafty buddies….. Michelle  finished stitching the binding on her gorgeous bubba quilt she has been working on to send to a relative’s new little boy in England 024 (Medium)026 (Medium)027 (Medium)       028 (Medium) How cute is that little teddy with his ribbon necktie???? and Barb came along too….she was working on this gorgeous Gail Pan design…aren’t those little birdies just beautiful????  and I love the variegated blue thread….Cottage Garden….can’t remember what she called it but it’s on my search and find list!!!!  030 (Medium) Heather was working on this sweet kitty design…… 031 (Medium) and I kept working on my Smee Designs ‘The Street” Block 032 (Medium) Can’t show you what Jen got up to…..it’s secret squirrel stuff…..but I can tell you she’s been working on a brilliant new design which I just know you’re going to love….we oohed and aahed over it yesterday and were just in awe over how she drew up the designs in front of our very eyes!!!!   I can tell you though you’ll need to watch THIS SPACE so you can find out what she’s been up to…..truly…..you won’t want to miss this one!!!!! And it wouldn’t be a stitchy Monday without some specatular food…… 019 (Medium) Michelle whipped up some absolutely delicious tuna patties with homemade chilli sauce and the most amazing trifle….. 020 (Medium) we all went back for seconds….and thirds!!!!!!!  I think Michelle’s onto a winner with this one! And before long, the day was over……Jen had to leave early as Miss Blossom was sick with the flu and needed some ‘get me better’ supplies….it was sad to see her leave so soon…… If you can, make sure you take time to spend crafty time with the best of girl-friends…….it really is good for the soul!!!!!  (and if you can’t……blog and stitch with us all ‘virtually’ !!!!! – it’s nearly as good!) xox Sugary hugs, :o) my signature *****OOOOH  just realised….I haven’t drawn the Birthday Love Stash…EEEEEK!!!!!!   Was so busy getting ready for our weekend away at LGS that I forgot!!! Stitching with friends and FNSI sign ups

Thanks so much for all your positive comments about my hoarding......I just felt that sometimes, even though it's not intentional, we don't see the 'real' person behind the blog and find out that they're just like us when you look behind the pretty things they make and share and all the pressures that brings along with it.....we all have a human side  despite what our blogs might appear to show....and yes, I'm as real as they come........just ask my Monday sewing buddies???   (Now be nice girls!!!!)

It was sooo good to get back to our every-second-Monday routine together yesterday.....I've seriously missed our madness and banter.....so many endorphins fly around that day, I'm sure we're all giddy by the time we leave!

After a serious fuel issue (I really MUST remember to fuel up the car BEFORE I leave on a long road trip!!!), I got to Heather's place at about 12...well after the 10am starting time, but let's just say I wasn't missing out on my 'fix' despite doing 1 1/2 trips to get there!!!! DUH!!!!!

And what greeted me when I got there.....not only hugs from three very special ladies but hugs from a sparkly eyed little mouse that Heather had made for me....

Mine's the gorgeous li'l girl on the right.......Harriet....she whispered her name to me as I arrived!!!!!

Jen's is the middle one....Hermione, and Michelle is pretty is pink, but I missed her name.....I'm sure it's just perfect!!!  Isn't Heather a real sweety!!!  See what I mean about wonderful ladies!!!  Only wish you could join us too!!!!

But instead, we'll have to get together virtually, and guess what??  This Friday night is FNSI....the first for 2014!!!! Yippeee!!!! We can get together and sew to our hearts content......join along with us, sign ups are below so make sure you add your name to the list so we can visit you...... I'll look for some yummy treats we could make to keep our energy levels up on the night and post about them later on in the week and you can prepare what you're going to sew on our Friday night together!!!!

How's that sound???

Ok.....here's to Friday.....at least if we can't get together in each other's houses in reality, isn't it lovely that technology allows us to get together virtually....and we can have just as much fun????

Looking forward to our stitchy bliss together all Friday night long!!!!!
