A couple of finishes….

It’s been a looooong time coming……and here’s the proof…..  but I finally finished a Christmas project in time for, well, Christmas!!

Maybe not the Christmas I had originally intended…..buuuut…finished for Christmas nonetheless!!!  So weird looking back on how my stitching has progressed…..2009 was when I really began stitching with a vengeance…..and my, doesn’t it show!!?   Large stitches, ‘ordinary’ looking stitch lines……I was full of …..enthusiasm and lots to learn….but that comes with time and I think I’ve improved quite a bit since then!

Nonetheless, I still just love the primitive naivety of my version of Leanne Beasley’s Christmas Sampler stitchery.

Very Christmassy….and just in time!!!!  hee hee

Christmas

My other finish is a more recent one…..started and finished in a couple of weeks!!!!   Phew!

This is a Christmas gift for my mother in law….a lady I love very dearly and who has taken me under her wing as her own….

I designed it in a shabby chic style and I just love it….I hope she does too…….and I sure hope she doesn’t cry (but I think she might)…..we’re both prone to that!!!!

The poem is called “To My Other Mother”, by Judy Nilson

You are the Mother I received,
the day I wed your son
And I want to thank you Mom,
for the loving things you've done.
You've given me a gracious Man,
with whom I share my life
You are his lovely Mother,
and I his lucky Wife.
You used to pat his little head,
and now I hold his hand
You raised in love a little boy,
and then gave me the Man.

Sometimes it’s just nice to show people who are important to you, HOW important they are, in stitches!!!

What a great Christmas finish, and what a lovely way to look back at your stitching journey! The framed poem has turned out beautifully. And I bet there were lots of tears, I had some prickling in my eyes as I read it lol
