Join me on a challenge?

I’m all up for starting afresh at the beginning of each year…believe me, I need every incentive I can get to finish that ever-growing list of UFOs, so I was excited when I read Fee’s post about the APQ’s UFO Challenge 2015.

impossible

It’s so logical and seems so easy….It’s one of those, ‘why didn’t I think of that’ moments…  Simply….

1. Download the chart.

2. Fill in twelve projects that you want to finish this year. You can choose from any of your UFOs. If you have a kit you bought but never opened or fabric you've been holding on to for too long, add using it up to the list. Embroidery, knitting, crochet, scrapbooking, and painting can count toward your list, too!

3. On the first Monday of each month, they'll randomly draw a number 1--12. That number will correspond with which number project you work on throughout the month. Fill in the description of where you were in the project before you start.

4. At the end of the month, fill in your progress and post pictures

5. By the end of the year, you'll have 12 finished projects! Or you'll at least have made a significant dent in your stack of UFOs.

So I’ve downloaded my list from here, and completed it with just ‘some’ of the many UFOs tucked away.

Believe me, I’ve tried to write all of them down and work my way through them but it always seems so overwhelming that I don’t even start, so this is one way to at least get 12 on the list done…..and knowing me (the procrastinator that I am), once I’ve starting and had some success, there might actually be MORE than 12 that get completed, because we all know starting is the hardest part! (don’t we?……Or is it just me?)

This month number 4 was randomly chosen, so that means I’m working on the Christmas Blessings Quilt, so I did a little more last night, adding some stitching to one of the blocks.

I have high hopes.  Will you join me?

What a great idea. I've also found one called A Lovely Year of Finishes that kind of does the same thing without the ramdom drawings - anything to get us working on our UFOs. Wishing you much success :)

Congrats on taking the plunge. Hopefully we can all get some finishes this year.

Lovely!! I am still to write out my list, but I do have the page written up. The project for #4 has already been decided, seeing as it's something that NEEDS to be finished this month ;) ... The others I'll figure out over the next week (once I've finished sorting through and organising my desk ... very close to finishing!). This is definitely the year for some UFO's to be finished, and some stash to be used!!!

I did something similar with "52 quilts in 52 weeks" for 2 years in a row - it really helped me get a lot of smaller jobs put of the way...the bigger ines are still hanging around, but I'm trying again in 2015.

Funny thing -- I already have a list! It doesn't look as "pretty" as APQ's, but it really does serve its purpose. Used it last year and finished (only) four UFOs, which may not have gotten done otherwise. I love to start NEW projects! =)

I want to add: I'm printing out this form and filling in details and tacking it to my wall. Maybe if it's in plain sight I'll be more apt to work on one or more projects! =)

A great idea and way to work through the ufos. My list of ufos would take too many pages but just picking 12 to work on would be less daunting! Your Christmas Blessings block is very cute!

I love this idea. I will happily join in with only 11 months left. I will print ou the list and see what I can do

Well done Wendy what a great idea but not sure I have the stamina!

what a great idea Wendy! I definitely agree that making a list of 12 projects (or perhaps less) gives the idea of things being a bit more achieveable & less daunting, instead of trying to list every ufo... & yes i do also agree that getting started is sometimes the biggest mental block of all!!

CertaiBly a great idea. Good luck.

Count me in! Is it a bad sign when a whole corner of a room has UFOs??? But the chart will tackle 12 of those little haunting buggers!

I saw that and spread the word on QuiltBOM, but I am already in a couple of things. I think I may download the chart and print it to record my progress on my finishing efforts, though! It's a hand chart.
